School for Physically Challenged Children
Rajiv Gandhi Memorial High School for the Physically Handicapped (RGMSPH) was founded in 1984 by Late Dr. Soutapalli Benjamin, a Christian missionary, an able administrator and philanthropist. The aim was to provide a residential academic environment for the physically challenged children irrespective of caste, creed, sex or religion. RGMSPH embraces the cause of providing these children basic education and /or vocational training so that they can learn to become independent and lead almost normal lives with self esteem, just like others. Children who complete the X STD can go on for higher studies or get placed in small office jobs. The vocationally trained children take up self-business like tailoring, weaving etc for their living.
